Astro Design’s new HR 7502 uncompressed SSD recorder is expected to get full Alexa ArriRaw T-Link approval by the end of March. With E-Sata connection for offloading, a separate docking or transfer station is not necessary (but nice for faster offloading). This unit can be mounted on camera, working from 10~30V, and can record 2K, HD, 3G Dual link 4:4:4 or 2 x HD-SDI 4:2:2 for 3D. As it fills up, simply swap out the SSD cartridge and carry on.For more details, see the Astro page

At BVE a stable beta version of Marvin’s new “multicam” was on show on the Big Pic Media booth. We were taking Alexa ProRes SxS cards from our friends on the Arri booth, inserting them into Marvin and watching as it copied and verified the files to Raid, copied and verified the files to LTO tape, transcoded the files into Quicktime proxies (through a LogC to linear Lut), created an H264 stream and an mpeg stream for a DVD iso file. All automatic. Nice! Marvin’s page
