What features do you want from a SAN?

  • Blistering access Speed - up to 8 x 8 GBit fibre
    channel or 2 x 40GBit Infinband connections
  • Managed Access - RTI (Real Time Initiator)
prioritises I/O bandwidth between up to 8 fully
    independent users.
  • Fastest rebuild times in case of drive failure, with no
impact on real time performance. Up to 6 x faster than
    traditional ASIC based Raid controllers.
  • Secure - Raid 6 storage, with 18TB (Aurora LS 12 bay)
or 24 or 48 TB (Aurora 24 bay)
  • Cost effectiveness - we believe Rorke offers the best price/perfomance storage ratio available on the market today. Ask for a quote and judge for yourself.
  • Scalable - add extra units or extra users with the minimum of fuss, and without needing a degree in IT technology
  • Simple - SAN client naming - real, useful names (Editbay 1; Johns; Suite 5) allows easier memory management.
            - shared storage - the SAN connects to and uses the native file system of the existing client.

Rorke Data’s new Aurora Galaxy SAN systems are the pinnacle in current SAN systems, defined explicitly with the Post Production industry in mind. During Raid rebuild there is no diminishment in access speeds thanks to Rorke’s pat pending Raid management technology. For the unconvinced, there is an introduction to Rorke’s Simple SAN technology on this pdf: (SimpleSan).

Digital Content Archiving (DCA)

Back up beyond tape! Rorke’s InfiniVault system utilises Prostor’s RDX removable disk drive solution to offer a competitive alternative to tape based archiving. The disk drives are ruggedised, and have the enormous advantage over tape that all memory locations are instantly addressable, removing the considerable time overhead inherent in seeking individual files on a linear tape system.

Save and verify to a removable disk, with or without industry leading encryption, then either remove the disks for offline storage, or leave them in situ for easy access. There is a powerful yet simple to implement storage protocol allowing fully automated retention and deletion policies to be established.

Use index based searches to find old yet trusty data quickly, and set up legal “holds” on key data to prevent deletion even if the policy specifies otherwise.

Automated indexing of text files supplements the index search capability.

Complete audit trails for files - every workstation that accesses a files is logged for “chain of custody” reporting.

Available with disks in sizes from 1.5TB to 50TB, the total capacity is scalable from one disk to almost infinite size.

For more information about the archiving system read this pdf (DCA) and for an explanation about the underlying RDX rugged, removable disk drive, read here
